Write a Poem Everyday Challenge- Day 4: Grandma’s House

Grandma’s House

I walk through your house in my mind.

That beautiful home.

A beautiful anchor.

A connection of place to a time far away.

Full of sunlight and ever-changing mountain views.

A home full of suncatchers and rainbows.

A home full of whimsy,

full of love,

full of laughter,

full of play.

Every room echoes a hundred memories.

A place of belonging and grace.

Of gardens and grass and hot feet on the concrete.

Finding relief in the pool where you taught us to swim.

Popsicles dripping down our hands.

A place for stargazing and star-wishing.

A place of long before.

Long before loss.

Long before the magic of childhood grew thin.

A home that’s knitted into my heart.

In my mind, I go back.

I go back.

go back…

go back…

If only I really could.
